Astrid Dodd
Astrid Dodd is a Dutch artist and interior designer whose sculptural practice explores the expressive potential of plaster — a material at once ancient and entirely contemporary, humble and endlessly complex.
Trained at KLC School of Design in London, where she graduated in 2010, Dodd spent the following decade working on high-end residential and commercial projects across London, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. It was through this sustained engagement with space, form, texture, and material that her sculptural sensibility took shape.
By 2020, during a period of lockdown in London, Dodd committed fully to her artistic practice — a decision that quickly led to international recognition. Her hand-sculpted wall sculptures are defined by organic forms, intricate layering, and a dynamic interplay of light and shadow.
Dodd's background in interior design is not incidental to her art — it is inseparable from it. Her sculptures are conceived as presences within space, works that bring depth, movement, and tactile richness to the environments they inhabit. She collaborates regularly with interior designers worldwide to create bespoke pieces for luxury residences, hotels, and flagship stores.
Among her most significant commissions is a seven-piece wall installation created in partnership with New York-based design firm Ward + Gray for 1Hotel Melbourne.
